Although the basis of the formula in carbon footprint calculations is "Activity Data x Emission Factor", there are some technical coefficients that determine the precision of the result. Net Calorific Value (NCV) and Oxidation Factor (OF) are the main ones. So, how does CimpactPro manage these technical parameters? Does the user have to search for these values one by one, or does the system provide an automated solution?
Automatic Data Extraction: Standards at Your Fingertips
CimpactPro offers an automated data management system to avoid overwhelming the user with technical details. The software's database already has standard Net Calorific Values and Oxidation Factors defined, taken from IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) guidelines or national inventories.
The process is very practical: You simply select the type of fuel you use (e.g. Natural Gas or Lignite Coal). The system automatically extracts the internationally recognized standard NCV and OF values for this fuel and includes them in the calculation. So, by default, the system manages the process for you without the need for manual input.
